what is the first step to getting ready for summer i.e dieting, plans, exercise?

I want to do this properly and make sure the weight stays off long term. I have stomach problems so cant do any starvation diets or anything. I want to lose about 5 kilos and tone up a lot!

Well, a starvation diet won’t keep the weight off anyway! You need to do a long term plan, a lifestyle change, if You Want to change your weight and health.

Don’t bother with these fad diets. Don’t even think of this as a diet, but rather a new life in food!! Low-carb isn’t healthy for your heart, so steer away from that. The best thing to do is incorporate more healthy veggies into your diet. The more greens, the better. And stick to lean meats and whole wheat breads and pastas. Although, pasta should be very little of your diet. There are such things are healthy fats, too. Your body can’t function without fats, so eat the good ones! Olive oil, flaxseed oil, fish oil, peanuts, etc.

You should never go more than 5 hours without eating. This causes your body to crash and go into starvation mode. Once in starvation mode, your body holds onto fats when you Work Out. It will burn carbs first. So always have a healthy snack around. A yogurt, piece of fruit (high in fiber is best), low fat cottage cheese. This will keep your metabolism going and help you Burn More calories even while resting!

You will also need to start an excercise plan. It’s always a good idea to fuel your workouts with a little caffeine. A cup of coffee a few minutes before is good! Also, work out to get your heart rate up for at least 1 hour 4 days a week. The other 3 days, do brisk walks, anything but sit on your butt all day!

If you like milk, drink skim. A little trick I’ve learned is to drink a glass 15 minutes before I eat dinner. It prevents me from over eating because not only does it fill my stomach a little, it also has an enzyme in it that tricks your body into thinking it’s full! Also, eat SLOWLY! It takes your body about 20 minutes to recognize when it’s full. If you eat too fast, you won’t know you’re full until you’ve eaten WAY TOO much.
