Your Questions About Detox Diets That Work

Sandra asks…
Lipovox hardcore detox diet pills?
I’ve been excercising at the gym 5 days a week for 4 months now and haven’t seen any improvements on my weight. :/ I want to try some diet pills and I was wondering if Lipovox Hardcore Detox works? Please don’t answer if you’re going to tell me that I shouldn’t take diet pills.
Cindy answers:
There is no medical evidence to support their claims. In general pills don’t work, This one contains caffeine (makes you feel more alert), diuretics (make you pee), synephrine which can cause heart arrythmias aso…

Nancy asks…
Does the Acai diet work?
I’ve read some articles that seem to be legit about the Acai fad, and how people are losing large amounts of weight using the Acai Max. I was just wondering if this is true? Anyone with great results? is it true that you have more energy and lose a lot of weight?
Also, the author of one article said that she took it along with Tone deTox to get rid of toxins in the body and colon cleanse. She said that combined with the Acai Max she lost tons of weight, got better sleep, and felt great.
Any info?
Cindy answers:
Nope. Like you say, it is just fad. So far, acai berries have no known health benefit that’s any different than that of other similar fruits.

Laura asks…
Does refrigerating real green tea kill all of the detoxing components?
I used to smoke a lot of pot, but I’m basically starting my life over, changing my diet, working out and I’m trying to detox Not only am I trying to detox, but I looooove me some green tea, but now that it’s hot, I want iced tea! If I steep my tea, then refrigerate it, will it kill everything in it that makes it a detoxing drink?
Thanks in advance!
Cindy answers:
First of all, I agree with other posters that the “detox” thing is more hype than reality. Why? Your body detoxes itself naturally through your liver and kidneys and other natural systems in your body. You can speed this process only by one way–by keeping your body in a state of balance. Drinking green tea in moderation may help keep your body in balance, but it’s not going to produce a dramatic effect in terms of helping you get marijuana or other substances out of your system.
Green tea, however, does have some health benefits, and in fact, other types of tea (including regular black tea) do as well. I maintain a page which summarizes these benefits and discusses the different types of tea as well: http://ratetea.net/topic/health-benefits-of-tea/8/
Now, about icing / refrigerating tea and its health benefits. There is no evidence that refrigerating tea is harmful at all. However, TIME does cause the antioxidants in tea to break down, starting when it is brewed. So, you want to drink tea closely after it is brewed (i.e. Within a day or two, ideally). But, tea will actually stay fresh better if it is refrigerated. I recommend drinking your tea immediately if it’s hot, and if you make iced tea, drinking it within a day or two of chilling it. This is why you want to only drink fresh-steeped tea and avoid bottled tea, I have a page explaining this too: http://ratetea.net/topic/bottled-tea/4/
Good luck! It is good that you want to be more healthy. Tea can be a good part of a healthy lifestyle and diet. However, it is no magic bullet and it is really more of a drink than a medicine. It’s just a healthy drink, nothing more, nothing less.
